Abstract:

The paper presents the results of assessing the quality of life (QoL) of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus. 100 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) of both sexes and 76 healthy children living in urban and rural areas, as well as their parents, were interviewed using the PedsQoL™4.0 questionnaire. The following parameters were assessed: physical, emotional, social, role (school) functioning, psychosocial health and an overall score of the quality of life characteristics. Significant differences in age, gender and place of residence in the assessment of QoL among patients with diabetes mellitus, as well as between healthy and sick persons were established.
